I Can Do It!
At about age two or three, many toddlers will come to want to more independant. They want to do everything for themselves but they haven't quite got the skills , or patience ;), to do so.As these abilities develop, they'll come to learn they can do it. These are big accomplishes for them. And then even when they have learned to do something, they want Mama to do it all. It's quite frustrating when you know they are perfectly capable of doing it themselves. But give them some slack, these new skills are a little scary.

Don't make it a battle
When you child refuses to do something they've mastered, meet him halfway. You do half, he does half. This will meet his need for the babying he longs for sometimes.Doing this will actually help him see that he does want to be more grown-up.

Make it a Game
Have a race. Take off the dirty clothes and shoot a basket into the dirty clothes.Try whatever makes your child happy.

Patience is A Virtue
It might take twice as long and much more messy when your baby does things on her own at first.Be prepared. Showing frustration only will make her complain the next time you want her to try. !
